What happens when I ask a coach to take me on?

Your request reaches the coach straight away, you can already chat, and the coach decides whether to take you on.

Your request reaches the coach straight away. While you wait you can already chat with them, and nothing you log is lost.

How to ask

  • On a coach's profile, tap Message coach, write a few lines and tap Send. You can send one message per coach per day.
  • In Find a coach, a coach without a profile page opens a short card instead. There the button is Ask to join roster.

Both need a free Fitiva account.

While you wait

  • Your dashboard shows the request under In conversation, and Open chat takes you to the conversation.
  • Everything you log in the meantime counts.
  • You can ask other coaches too, up to three open requests at once.
  • Take it back withdraws the request.

When the coach answers

You get a notification either way.

  • Accepted: you are now their athlete. They see your profile and what you log, including your training history, and can plan your training.
  • Declined: nothing changes for you, and you can ask another coach.

If a coach has no free place left, you see "This coach is not taking on new athletes right now."

On the Free plan you train with one coach at a time. A request does not use up that place, but a coach can only accept you while you have no other coach. Premium removes the limit.

Booked a session first? If a coach accepted your booking but has not taken you on, you are their guest, which costs neither of you a place. On My Profile, that coach's card shows Work together. Working together for the long run is something you both say yes to: one of you offers, the other taps Accept.
