Coaching software compared 2026: six tools for coaches

We build coaching software ourselves, so let's say it up front: this comparison isn't neutral, but it is honest. All figures come from the providers' pricing pages, in the currency shown there, as of 09/2026. And where others are better, you'll read it here.

What matters in a comparison

The pricing pages look similar, the products aren't. Five questions set them apart:

  1. What does it cost at your number of clients, not on the entry-level plan?
  2. Can you bill sessions and packages directly, and what does that cost on top?
  3. How are plans created, and does your athlete see them in an app they actually use?
  4. Is there an app for iPhone and Android, or does everything run in the browser?
  5. In which language, in which currency, and where is the data stored?

The six providers at a glance

All details come from the providers' pricing pages, accessed in September 2026. Prices change, so check them again yourself before you decide. Green ticks show what's included, yellow dashes show what costs extra or is missing.

Trainerize

ABC Trainerize is one of the big providers. Basic is free for one client, Grow costs 10 US dollars a month for two. Pro is tiered by number of clients from 5 to 200, with 25 US dollars for 5 and 50 US dollars for 15 clients, and Studio Plus starts at 275 US dollars for 500. Paying yearly saves you 10%.

  • Apps for iOS and Android on every plan
  • From Grow: an AI workout builder, a profile on Trainerize.me and data from other apps and from watches
  • Try it for 30 days with as many clients as you like, no card needed
  • Card payments via Stripe are an add-on in Grow and Pro for 10 US dollars a month
  • Advanced nutrition features cost from 20 US dollars a month extra
  • An app with your logo and your colours costs a one-off 169 US dollars on Pro

TrueCoach

TrueCoach has three plans based on active clients: Starter for 26.34 US dollars a month for up to 5, Standard for 57.99 US dollars for up to 20 and Pro for 136.99 US dollars for up to 50. Paying yearly saves you one to two months' fees.

  • No free plan

Everfit

Everfit has a permanently free Starter plan for up to 5 clients. Pro is tiered by number of clients: 19 US dollars a month for 5, 29 for 10 and 49 for 20 clients, around 16% less if you pay yearly.

PT Distinction

PT Distinction only bills monthly. Basic costs 19.90 US dollars with 3 clients, Pro 59.90 US dollars with 25 and Master 89.90 US dollars with 50.

  • A striking amount of AI on every plan: an AI programme builder, an AI nutrition planner and an AI assistant
  • Sell packages and take payments on every plan
  • From Pro: your own apps under your brand for iOS and Android
  • The first month is free
  • No free plan
  • Each additional client costs 6.00, 2.40 or 1.60 US dollars a month, nothing in the first month

Hevy Coach

Hevy Coach is the tool for trainers behind the training app Hevy. It costs 25 US dollars a month for up to 10 clients and 50 US dollars for 11 to 25, tiered up to 1,000 clients. Its strength is logging during training.

  • Your clients use the Hevy app and get Hevy Pro free on top
  • Over 400 exercises, your own exercises and a coach app
  • Try it for 30 days, no card needed, then cancel any month
  • No free plan
  • The pricing page doesn't mention billing your clients

Fitiva

Fitiva starts with Free for €0 for up to 3 active athletes. Pro costs €14.99 a month for up to 15 athletes, Elite €29.99 with no limit, or €143.90 and €287.90 a year. These are launch prices incl. VAT: if you start by 31 December 2026, including with the 14 days free, you keep them for as long as your subscription runs. New subscriptions from 1 January 2027 cost €24.99 a month or €239.90 a year for Pro, and €45.99 a month or €441.50 a year for Elite.

  • Card payments via Stripe on every plan, plus payment in person, packages and payment links
  • Ava on every plan, for you and your athletes: AI workouts from Free, nutrition plans and programmes over several weeks from Pro
  • A pin on the map and a public profile, even with Free
  • In German and English, prices in euros, Pro and Elite free for 14 days
  • On sessions, packages and events, Fitiva keeps 5% on Free, 2.5% on Pro and nothing on Elite
  • Every card payment adds Stripe's card fee, 1.5% plus €0.25 per payment, with none for payments in person
  • Not in the App Store yet, no app under your own brand, watches are still to come

Prices at 15 athletes

At 15 athletes the plans are easy to compare, because almost every provider has a tier close by. The figures are for monthly payment.

According to the providers' pricing pages, monthly payment, as of 09/2026. Prices in US dollars as the providers state them, Fitiva incl. VAT. Add-ons are charged per month.
Provider, planPer monthPayments
Trainerize, Pro 1550 $Add-on, $10
TrueCoach, Standard up to 2057,99 $included
Everfit, Pro up to 2049 $Add-on, from $9
PT Distinction, Pro up to 2559,90 $included
Hevy Coach, 11 to 2550 $not stated
Fitiva, Pro up to 1514,99 €included, 2.5% fee

Two things to add. First, tax: Trainerize says taxes may be added to its prices, and the other four say nothing about it on their pricing pages. Fitiva quotes all prices including VAT. Second, fees per payment: at Fitiva, Stripe's card fee is added to every card payment, 1.5% plus €0.25 per payment, on every plan; payments in person have none. The other providers' pricing pages don't say which fees per payment apply. Ask about them before you switch.

When the revenue share matters

A low base price plus a share of revenue is good value as long as little goes through card payments. With a lot of card revenue, the share becomes the biggest item. So here's the honest maths:

Fitiva at the launch price, example calculation with made-up figures: 15 athletes, 60 sessions at €60 each a month, all paid by card, so €3,600 in revenue.
Per monthProElite
Plan14,99 €29,99 €
Fitiva fee, 2.5% or 0%90,00 €0,00 €
Stripe card fee69,00 €69,00 €
Total173,99 €98,99 €

The rule of thumb: from €600 in card revenue a month, Elite is cheaper than Pro. The difference in base price is €15, and 2.5% of €600 is exactly €15. Whatever your athletes pay in cash or in person carries no fee on any plan. Why we chose this model is explained in the article Free, Pro or Elite.

Apps, language and data location

This is where the established providers have the edge, and we say so clearly. All five have apps for iPhone and Android. Trainerize, TrueCoach, Everfit and PT Distinction offer an app with your logo or under your own brand, and Trainerize and TrueCoach pull in data from watches and trackers. Fitiva runs in the browser today, on any device and with nothing to install, and on your phone it sits on your home screen like an app. For many athletes that's no drawback. For coaches who want an app with their own name in the store, it is.

The pricing pages of the five international providers are in English and quote prices in US dollars. Fitiva is available in German and English, and billing is in euros. Your account and your content are stored with Supabase in the EU. For Ava and the other AI features, the content needed for an answer goes to Anthropic in the US, as set out in our Privacy Policy. Where the other providers store data isn't stated on their pricing pages. Ask about it if your clients want to know.

Where Fitiva is different

The other five are mainly tools for coaches who already have their clients. Public profiles now exist at TrueCoach from Standard and at Trainerize from Grow too. Fitiva adds the map: athletes who use Fitiva for free for their own training and food find you nearby in the same app, see your open slots, book themselves and pay online or in person. Your pin on the map is free, even with Free.

On top of that come events with a flyer and tickets, online courses with a fee that drops as your revenue grows, and Ava. She answers your athletes between sessions, drafts plans for you and flags who is about to drop off, instead of leaving all that to your Sunday evening.

How athletes find you on the map

Where other providers are stronger

  • Native apps in the App Store and on Google Play, at Trainerize, TrueCoach, Everfit and PT Distinction also with your logo or under your own brand.
  • Data from watches and trackers, at Trainerize from Grow and at TrueCoach from Standard. At Fitiva, Strava and Apple Health are still to come.
  • Exercise libraries with lots of videos, over 3,000 at TrueCoach.
  • Plans for large studios and teams, such as Studio Plus at Trainerize from 275 US dollars and Studio at Everfit from 105 US dollars a month.

Which tool suits whom

If you're digitising a studio with hundreds of members, look at Trainerize or Everfit. If you work online and want an app under your own brand, look at PT Distinction or TrueCoach. If your clients mainly log strength training, look at Hevy Coach. If you're a coach in Germany, Austria or Switzerland working with clients in person, and you want booking, payment and plans in one place while also being found, take a look at Fitiva. It costs nothing for up to three athletes.
