Ava: what the AI can do between your sessions. And what she can't.
Most training questions don't come up during the session, they come up in between. On Tuesday evening, when the muscle soreness kicks in. On Sunday, when the plan doesn't fit into your day. That's exactly what Ava is for.

What Ava is
Ava is the AI assistant in Fitiva. Unlike a chatbot that knows everything and nothing, Ava works with your data in the app: your workout for today and your week, your recent sessions and records, your goals, your nutrition and the chat with your coach. If you ask why squats are on the plan today, she answers with your plan and your goal in mind, not with a paragraph from a textbook.
Ava writes in your language, German or English, and she keeps it short: a few lines you can read between two sets. She goes into detail when you ask for a plan or an explanation.
Six things Ava is built for
- Log food, in one sentence. “Chicken with rice and broccoli for lunch” is enough. Ava estimates amounts, calories and macros and logs everything, and one tap undoes it. A photo of your plate works too, once a month for free, up to 30 times with Premium.
- Answer questions about your plan. “How many sets today?”, “What does RPE 8 mean?”, “What else is on this week?” Ava sees your workout with exercises, sets and weights and explains what your coach has planned.
- Explain exercises. Technique, common mistakes, an alternative when the machine is taken. Short enough for the rest between sets.
- Adjust the day. Short on time, sore muscles, not in the mood for the track: Ava suggests a sensible shorter version instead of dropping the session. A workout you set up yourself she moves to another day.
- Work out what's still missing. “What am I still missing today?” Ava does the maths with your day, tells you, for example, that 420 kcal and 38 g protein are still open, and suggests food that fits.
- Keep at it. Ava shows you your streak and where you stand this week, and on your dashboard she tells you what's waiting today. On top of that, Fitiva reminds you when your streak could break and sends you your recap every Sunday. You set your quiet hours yourself.
Ava also logs water, weight, activities and your daily check in, builds your shopping list from your nutrition plan, keeps your supplement plan and finds free slots with your coach. And if you ask how something works in the app, she answers from the help centre and opens the right page for you.
How Ava and your coach work together
Your coach writes your plan, Ava explains it. Ava doesn't move or change a workout your coach has given you. If it doesn't fit your week, she offers to message your coach.
Ava shows you a message to your coach, a booking or a cancellation as a card first, with exactly the text she has prepared. It only happens when you tap Confirm. Your own entries, such as a meal or your weight, she logs right away, with Undo. Like everything you log, your coach then sees them too.
If you tell Ava about knee pain or an old injury, she saves it as a health note, for you only at first. Your coach only sees it once you turn on sharing, and can then coach you safely from your very first session.
And Ava never moves money. She doesn't pay, refund or cancel a subscription, she shows you where that happens in the app. If you cancel a session you paid for online, your coach is told and decides whether you get money back.
Your coach is still the person behind your progress. Ava makes sure nothing gets lost between sessions.
What Ava doesn't do
- No diagnoses. Ava is not a doctor. For pain that training explains, she suggests pain-free alternatives, and for sharp, lasting or worsening pain she advises you to see a doctor or physio.
- Warning signs? Emergency number first. With chest pain, fainting or severe shortness of breath, she gives you the emergency number right away, in the same reply, and puts training aside.
- No crash diets. Ava suggests nothing below about 1,200 kcal a day for women and 1,500 kcal for men without medical supervision. If there are signs of an eating disorder, she won't help you eat even less. She raises it kindly and suggests talking to your coach and a doctor.
- No guessed doses. On supplements, Ava only says what her knowledge base supports, checked against the maximum amounts of the BfR (German Federal Institute for Risk Assessment) and the EU limits, and never promises a cure. With an illness, medication or in pregnancy, your doctor or pharmacist decides.
- No replacement for your coach. A coach knows you, sees your technique and hears how you're doing. Ava fills the gap between two sessions, nothing more.
Important. What Ava writes can be wrong, and it is not medical advice. Calories from a sentence are estimates. They get more precise when you search for a food and choose the amount.
Ava for coaches
Coaches have Ava on every plan. She knows your athletes, your calendar and your revenue. She drafts training and nutrition plans that you adjust and assign, flags athletes who haven't trained for days, reschedules sessions and answers “How's September going?” with revenue, sessions and open payments. The same applies here: messages and schedule changes only go out once you confirm, and anything that moves money stays with you.
AI workouts for single sessions are already included in Free. Nutrition plans and programmes over several weeks are available from Pro.

Privacy, in concrete terms
- Ava works with Claude, an AI model from Anthropic. When you ask a question, the content the answer needs goes to Anthropic in the USA.
- Anthropic does not use this content to train its models. It is processed for the answer, kept for a limited time to check for misuse and then deleted.
- Your account and your entries are stored with Supabase in the EU. We don't sell your data.
- You can download your data yourself at any time, in Settings under “Privacy & data”. That's also where you delete your account.
- You don't have to use Ava. Everything else in Fitiva works without her too.
All the details are in the Privacy Policy.
How to get the most out of Ava
Ask Ava concrete questions with context. “Only 30 minutes today, what should I prioritise?” gets you more than “What should I do?”. Tell her how a session felt, and log what you eat and how you train. The more there is in Fitiva, the better her answers fit your everyday life.
Three sentences to try. “Salmon with rice and broccoli for dinner.” “How much protein am I still missing today?” “Build me an upper body routine, 45 minutes, beginner.”
Frequently asked questions about Ava

Can Ava change my training plan?
If you ask her to, Ava moves workouts you set up yourself to another day. She doesn't change a plan from your coach, she offers to message your coach instead.
Does Ava send anything in my name?
Only if you confirm it. She shows you messages to your coach, bookings and cancellations as a card with the exact text first.
Does Ava replace a doctor or a coach?
